As we reported, President Obama couldn’t be bothered to send a single representative of his administration to Margaret Thatcher’s funeral. Many viewed the snub as evidence of Obama’s disregard not only for the Iron Lady, but also for the Special Relationship.
Today, MEP Daniel Hannan, a great admirer of Lady Thatcher, registered his own disappointment with a not-so-subtle subtweet:
Thank you, @pmharper, for coming to Margaret Thatcher's funeral. We know who our closest friends are.

Ouch.
Apologies, sir. RT@DanHannanMEP: Thank you, @pmharper, for coming to Margaret Thatcher's funeral. We know who our closest friends are.

@DanHannanMEP @pmharper We hope you know the saddness of US @ loss. Not all are as insensitive as some DC politicians. RIP Dear Lady.

@DanHannanMEP Thank you @pmharper for having the class that current American leadership does not. We are ashamed.

@DanHannanMEP @pmharper Many Americans were there in spirit. We are ashamed of our President's lack of respect for Prime Minister Thatcher.

We were there in spirit, sir, even though our leader couldn’t show the same courtesy.
