Disappointing: Obama will not send a representative to Thatcher funeral

Sen. Bob Menendez tried — unsuccessfully, as it turned out — to block a resolution honoring the late Margaret Thatcher. But he’s not the only powerful Dem who has issues showing respect:

That’s right. President Obama is not sending a single member of his administration to represent the United States at Lady Thatcher’s funeral.

It’s worth noting that Obama has a history of dissing Britain, and this latest move isn’t likely to score him points with Thatcher admirers:

Former defence secretary Dr Liam Fox, Lady Thatcher’s closest ally in modern-day politics, said: ‘I think it would be both surprising and disappointing if after President Obama’s fulsome tribute to Lady Thatcher, the American administration did not send a senior serving member to represent them.’

Sir Gerald Howarth, chairman of the Thatcherite Conservative Way Forward group of MPs and peers, said: ‘The bonds forged between the UK and the US through Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher was instrumental in ending the Cold War and liberating millions of people.

‘That the present administration feels unable to be represented as the world marks the extraordinary contribution Margaret Thatcher made will be a source of disappointment to those who served with her in that great endeavour.

Many conservatives on this side of the Atlantic are frustrated and angry:

As several Twitterers pointed out, the president didn’t seem to have an issue sending representatives to tyrant Hugo Chavez’s funeral:

Chavez despised freedom; Thatcher championed it.

So why can’t the president show the Iron Lady the respect she deserves and send at least one senior administration official to honor her on his behalf?

According to the Daily Mail, the president’s decision was made prior to yesterday’s bombings in Boston, and a U.S. Embassy spokesman cites gun control legislation as the reason the president can’t afford to spare anyone. He’s just too busy worrying about our guns.

But here’s another theory:

  • http://apostrophejones.com/ Gloves Donahue, Jr.

They prefer having the bust of Churchill.

    It’s more trustworthy.

  • TocksNedlog

And so Barry steps on his crank again.

And again and again and again and . . .

    • MurphTacular

A presidential delegation is insufficient? If Obama or Michelle went, you guys would likely carp about the cost. Next trivial concern that will be forgotten in less than 30 days, please …

      • LordElrond09

No, not for a deceased head of state who was invaluable in helping us win the cold war. Try again.

        • dr44

Especially considering that he did send an official delegation to scumbucket Chavez’ funeral. Freedom-loving promoter of democracy bad, dictator good. Typical of Obozo.

          • MurphTacular

i guess it’s one of the luxuries of ‘friendship.’ A delegation will suffice to GB, but in Venezuela where the relationship has lots of room to improve, sending a delegation helps you look better in front of the populace, one could argue.

          • dr44

One could argue that only as an apologetic for a very pointed snub to one of our oldest and strongest allies, England, simply because our small-minded piss-ant head of state happens to despise Margaret Thatcher. He’s okay with socialist wack-job Chavez, though.

          • MurphTacular

First all, the correct insult you’re trying to hurl at me is ‘apologist,’ not ‘apologetic. (The former’s a noun, the latter’s an adjective.) Second, how do we know Obama despises Thatcher? Haven’t read THAT anywhere, but let’s just make a wild assumption anyway … :>. And again sending someone to a freely elected head of state’s funeral while trying to improve relations with a potentially second-straight anti-US regime is what you do when you want to see things improve, I’d imagine.

          • Ronald Green

What would have been wrong with doing both, especially since the one that’s being snubbed was a staunch ally and friend of ours?

          • dr44

Then you’d imagine incorrectly, as anyone who’s not an APOLOGIST (forgive my error, O grammar diety) for the current regime can see plainly. It’s a blunt snub, a blatant insult.

          • SJ’s Dad

            “First all”?!?!?!?
You’re almost as enlightened as your paid acquaintances tell us you like to imagine yourself to be.
Substantively speaking, calling you vapid would be an insult to the libturd troll pieces of $HIT you desperately attempt to emulate. Perhaps it’s still not too late for Kermit Gosnell to make a house call to your parents basement . . . But I digress!

          • MurphTacular

Hey, nobody’s perfect. And it would be ‘your parents’ basement,’ (The apostrophe is possessive) but I digress. What did I say that was so vapid? Just trying to see the larger point of view, and the dirty truth of it all is that the UK and the US won’t really get mad about each other about funeral visits – at least not long term. But, picking up an ally in South America where we could use one could prove substantive.

            SOOOoooo . . . .

          • SpinMeNot

Room to improve? Where is your leftist cry about GWB supporting dictators? Reagan supporting dictators? Another shining example of what is bad for thee is good for me that you lefties love so much.

Even the State Department is questioning the result of the election in Venezuela. You can find that on Breittbart, since you seem incapable of using Google yourself.

Birds of a Socialist feather flock together.

          • MurphTacular

Hey, I don’t like ANY president supporting ‘dictators,’ but Chavez was freely elected and it’s hard to say what happened recently in Venezuela. The recount’s been called for, etc … Regardless of what happened, trying to improve relations in Venezuela -even if the voters choose someone the US doesn’t/didn’t like- is a worthy goal.

          • SpinMeNot

Freely elected? Really? He lead a Coup d’etat and took power, then used his military and secret police to maintain power.

The man openly hated the US, never changed his tone, ever. And we send a delegation to his funeral but skip Baroness Thatcher’s funeral.

Here’s a good summary of some of Hugo’s last freedom enhancing moves — read it later when you have time pls, then do your own research on Tio Hugo.

          • MurphTacular

Nope. He was elected in 1998, and re-elected each time.

          • SpinMeNot

Yes, you are correct, sorry, I am confusing him with Khadaffi. Chavez’ coup attempt in 1992 failed. Sorry about that … my bad. I don’t usually use Wikipedia as a source, but here is that reference for you.

The man was a horrible dictator.

edit: here is another good summary of the validity of his “elections”: http://www.cato.org/blog/did-chavez-win-elections-venezuela-democracy

          • beebop1952

Free elections is just a concept to you, isn’t it?

          • MurphTacular

No. I support free elections unequivocally. I’m unsure if any corruption in the Venezuelan process has been conclusively connected to Chavez. Did you ever notice that seeminly every anti-Western politician who gets elected anywhere has a pall cast on their election? Hmm …

          • beebop1952

And odd that those same anti-West governments are heroes to those on the left.

          • MurphTacular

No one who treats his fellow citizens unfairly or unjustly is a hero of mine. But thanks for assigning me a complete belief system based on a few Internet posts. LOL.

            Hitler was freely elected.

        • MurphTacular

How did overseeing the hunger strike of IRA prisoners help defeat the Soviets, exactly?

          • Ronald Green

What does the one have to do with the other?

          • MurphTacular

That was MY point … Get your own. LOL.

          • SpinMeNot

It didn’t, but much like the hunger strike at gitmo, when they commit evil acts and get locked up for it, trying to “appeal to the humanitarian” instinct in a population about their perceived mistreatment, doesn’t really garner a lot of support from people that have seen the damage IRA bombers, Victor Charles, or Hezbolah, or other groups commit to enforce their political will on sovereign nations.

It was only after the IRA gave up on their violence that a peaceful settlement reached. If they don’t/didn’t want to eat, that is their choice, Then Prime Minister Thatcher did not take their food away.

For the record, my first hand experience is with Victor Charles (thats the Viet Cong, in case you haven’t heard them called by their radio designation … ). I’ve shared a bottle with my oldest and listened to his experiences with the Taliban. Doesn’t seem to be much difference to me.

        • Paul

She was not head of state! The queen is the head of state, she was a former prime minister. You need to try again, why are there so many Americans who are clueless, no wonder we will go into decline.

      • TocksNedlog

He can’t send Biden or Kerry? It’s called being respectful and paying your respects.

        • SpinMeNot

Of course he can, he won’t.

        • MurphTacular

Yes, one should always be respectful AND respectfully pay your most respectful respects. And it’s even better if you listen to Aretha sing “Respect” while doing so.

          Respectfully yours,

      • mike_in_kosovo

They certainly didn’t have a problem sending an OFFICIAL delegation to Chavez’ funeral.

      • ozconservative

Actually I would be more concerned for their safety…..wouldn’t want them to burst into flames as the coffin went by.

  • Peyton

Obama was probably too busy with his Choom gang to remember much about Thatcher.

    • SpinMeNot

He only remembers that she stood boldly against all his beliefs.

      • Adi

Whatever those believes are/were. King Hussein the First is constantly “evolving” on a lot of issues as soon as it is convenient.

I think this refusal comes mostly because The Messiah and The First Queen were dissed at the Royal Wedding and this is a payback, like anyone cares. If MT were to be the British PM today, they’ll be enemies anyways.

  • Clayton Grant

I am not the least bit surprised. This falls right in line with returning the bust of Churchill.

    • SpinMeNot

Nor am I disappointed. To be disappointed in this instance, one would be required to have expected him to behave otherwise.

Anyone that doesn’t understand that the reasons — Uncle Joe goes to the funeral of a socialist dictator, but not an anti-socialist leader that pulled the UK out of a slump that had been going on for many years.

      Nuff said …

See my previous response. I’m old, but you don’t have to repeat something twice, especially when it just proves you don’t understand what is being discussed.

For the record, there was an official delegation from the Congress, and numerous other Americans in attendance. The problem is not one single person as an official representative of the office of the President.

      • Brett Martyn-Dow
        • SpinMeNot

There are numerous US government officials attending — none of them as an official delegation from the Office of the President of the United States.

      • Roto

I think many people did believe him, and that’s even scarier.

      • Clayton Grant

I agree. When he said transparent, he meant it. Anyone with half a brain can see right through him. No comic book X-Ray glasses required.

        • BlahBlah

The US WILL be represented at Baroness Thatcher’s funeral:

    Quoting the article:

Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger will attend the funeral of Margaret Thatcher tomorrow as President Obama said he will stay away.
Former secretaries of state George Shultz and James A. Baker III, who both served under Republican President Ronald Reagan, will lead the U.S. delegation sent by Obama, the White House said in a statement. Kissinger’s attendance was announced by U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron’s office in London today.
Reagan was Thatcher’s closest Cold-War ally during her term in office between 1979 and 1990. Republican former Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne will attend, Cameron’s office said.
Nobel Prize-winner Kissinger orchestrated the opening of relationships with Communist China in the 1970s. Thatcher strengthened ties with another branch of Communism in former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, 82, a man she said she “could do business with.” Gorbachev will not attend because of ill health.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will not be attending, spokesman Nick Merrill said in an e-mail today.
Asked if Cameron thinks the U.S. had snubbed the U.K., the prime minister’s spokesman, Jean-Christophe Gray, said “absolutely not.”
“The seniority of the dignitaries in the U.S. delegation that includes two former secretaries of state with whom Lady Thatcher worked with very closely herself, is testament to her global stature,” he said.

Im fine with this. Thatcher let the children starve in the streets and created the biggest divide between the haves and have nots in modern Brit. history. She was a controversial figure at best. Not worthy of USA time or money in this day and age. We must move forward and not let ourselves be consumed with outdated politics. The country no longer has any interest in obsolete Reagan/Thatcher politics. We are a center-left country now, with the trend still heading even further left.

08-April-2013~Former Conservative prime minister Margaret Thatcher died in a suite at the Ritz today after suffering a severe stroke.

Britain’s first and only female political leader passed away peacefully aged 87, after battling poor health for more than a decade.

After a minor operation over Christmas, Baroness Thatcher had spent the past few months recuperating at the five-star hotel in cen…tral London.

The Iron Lady was given 24-hour care by nursing staff in her suite, after becoming too frail to stay in her Belgravia home.

The grocer’s daughter, who became the longest serving British prime minister of the 20th century, will be honoured with a full ceremonial funeral – one step below a state funeral – at St Paul’s Cathedral next week.

Not since Winston Churchill’s death has a politician been granted such a tribute. His funeral was also held there in 1965.

Her spokesman Lord Bell said: ‘It is with great sadness that Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning’.

Her daughter Carol dashed from her home in the Alps to London on Sunday morning to be by her mother’s side before she died.

The Queen was sad to hear of Baroness Thatcher’s death and Her Majesty will send a private message of sympathy to the family, Buckingham Palace said today.

The last true Conservative has left the island. Turn out the lights and walk away, and leave the place to the savages.

    The Savages

Dancing on Thatcher’s Grave: Brixton’s Iron Lady Death Party Ends in Looting and Arrests

Revellers in Brixton staged a street party to celebrate Margaret Thatcher’s death, culminating in arrests and an attack on a local charity shop.

Around 100 hundred people were out on the streets to celebrate the death of the former prime minister, whose death from a stroke was announced on Monday.

A board at the famous Ritzy cinema in Windrush Square was hijacked by partygoers who swapped the letters to read ‘Margaret Thatcher’s Dead.’

Smashed glass was strewn on the street after the window of charity shop Barnardos was kicked in during ugly scenes.

Police officers trying to keep order were attacked, with extra numbers drafted in to stop revellers spilling out on to the roads and causing traffic delays.

Two women were arrested on suspicion of burglary and spent the night in cells after Barnardos was targeted during celebrations.

IBTimes UK reporter Ewan Palmer was at the scene. He said: “There was the notion that this morbid celebration has been planned in thousands of people’s heads for more than 30 years.

“Police stood by and watched as more and more people arrived with their drink and banners mocking her death. Shouts of ‘Maggie, Maggie, Maggie! dead, dead, dead!” rang around gleefully.

“Chalk was handed out so people could graffiti their own message on the ground and surrounding walls.

“There were even two guys playing double bass and acoustic guitar in the crowd for a sing-along. At the start of the evening, the whole thing resembled a middle-class music festival more than a raucous demo.

“Almost inevitably after a few hours of people drinking in the streets, this escalated into scenes of unrest between people and riot police, resulting in arrests and even serious injury.”

Funny thing … nearly all of the classless vulgar yobs pictured in the article are too young to have had any real recollection of the woman or her influence as PM at all. Come on. She stepped down in 1990, 23 years ago. Only the rarest of rare youths is even slightly politically aware by the age of 13; so almost no one under 36 knew a thing about her firsthand. And nearly everyone in the photos is under 30. Arsehats.

Ding Dong The Witch is Dead is set to top the charts after a Facebook campaign in the wake of Margaret Thatcher’s passing sent Judy Garland’s hit soaring into the iTunes Top 30 download chart.

Within 24 hours of the announcement that the former Conservative leader had died, the song, which features in the 1939 musical The Wizard of Oz, had rocketed to number 26.

The Facebook campaign posted a link to the song and urged people to download it. The group already has more than 2,500 members.

“Now get over to iTunes and make this number one !!” one user wrote.

Another critic said: “She died in the Ritz, that £3000 a night hotel of opulent luxury. She shafted the poor to the end, what a vile old bag. Ding Dong the Wicked witch is dead.”

Really? I wouldn’t bet a leftover order of fish ‘n chips that the hotel bill was paid for with family money, or if not, then from an insurance plan no different than any other PM or MP has. More toxic bilge from the hater class. People without shame, mercy, or the merest scrap of kindness or decency.

And you know that A.C.O.R.N. organizer, Obama would be out there with them if he could. Did you hear that worthless pustulant dog’s bottom dribble statement he made about her passing? “She would be a great example to my daughters of what they could achieve” or some such twaddle. Pretty much blah-blahing every positive thing the woman did as PM. You know, little things, like bring the nation back from the verge of extinction, halt runaway inflation, and help usher in an era of prosperity. But hey, ignore that. She got herself elected Top Dog, so let’s just use her as an example of glass ceiling breaking. What a sissy putz he is.
Oh, excuse me … it looks like the White House issued a statement. It’s not like Golf Boy actually got up on a podium somewhere and said something.

“As prime minister, she helped restore the confidence and pride that has always been the hallmark of Britain at its best … as an unapologetic supporter of our transatlantic alliance, she knew that with strength and resolve we could win the Cold War and extend freedom’s promise,” said the president’s statement.

“In America, many of us will never forget her standing shoulder to shoulder with President Reagan, reminding the world that we are not simply carried along by the currents of history — we can shape them with moral conviction, unyielding courage and iron will.”

Obama’s statement also tried to portray her successful rise from a middle-class beginning as a victory for feminism. ”As a grocer’s daughter who rose to become Britain’s first female prime minister, she stands as an example to our daughters that there is no glass ceiling that can’t be shattered,” the president said.

But Thatcher, who once declared, “I owe nothing to women’s lib,” believed in a mix of traditional and post-60s attitudes, and she did not push policies that favored university-trained professional women.

Can’t see the forest for the trees that his imagination insists are there.

This might just be my reading of the situation, but it seems like Lady Thatcher was/is more liked in the US than her home country.

    • Roto

She was like a grandmother who disciplined her grandkids, and they grew up resenting her — even though it made them adults.

Don’t let facts get in the way:
    From Bloomberg 04/15/2013:

President Barack Obama named former secretaries of state George Shultz and James A. Baker to lead the U.S. delegation attending the funeral of former British Prime Minister tomorrow.
Both men served while Thatcher was prime minister. Shultz was the chief U.S. diplomat under President Ronald Reagan, Thatcher’s Cold-War ally. Baker served under President George H.W. Bush, who succeeded Reagan in office.
Also included in the delegation are Barbara Stephenson, charge d’affaires to the United Kingdom and Louis Susman, former U.S. ambassador to the U.K.

    • Roto

Don’t let facts get in the way:

Downing Street is most angered by rejections from Obama, First Lady Michelle and Vice-President Joe Biden. And none of the four surviving ex-US leaders – Jimmy Carter, George Bush Sr, Bill Clinton and George Bush Jr – is coming either.

A No. 10 source said last night: “We are a little surprised by the White House’s reaction as we were expecting a high-profile attendance.” (Sun)

      • e bow

My response was to the headline. The president named representatives to attend the funeral so the headline is incorrect. Your response complains about former US leaders not attending. That would be up to them. To expect the President or Vice President to automatically attend is presumptuous and the White House would be roundly criticized for sending only the FIrst Lady. The President appointed a perfectly appropriate group to attend the funeral. They were her peers and served when she served.

        • Roto

That’s not MY response. It’s the BRITISH GOVERNMENT’S response — that’s what No. 10 means and the use of quote marks. Not sending a prominent **Obama administration** official was “surprising” (see insulting) to the British Government — THEIR response, not mine. If you don’t know who a “high-profile” Obama administration offical would be, I can’t help you. The freakin Chargé d’affaires LIVES in London. Obama should’ve sent his golf cart driver — he’s more important.

          • e bow

But it still doesn’t make the headline true. There is a difference. I am pointing out a lie. You are claiming via the “Sun” (Mr. Murdoch’s tabloid) “the British Government” (read unknown source) is surprised. (insulted?). All caps isn’t necessary. We aren’t having an argument because we are not talking about the same thing. Even if the British government was displeased with the American Administration’s representatives; it doesn’t mean there weren’t any.

          • Roto

Sorry, I guess “No. 10 source” and the concept of a direct quote still wasn’t enough to overcome the Moonbat Conspiracy Syndrome. FORMER Secretaries of State are not part of Obama’s “American Administration.” Parse words as you must, but the world sees Obama’s gaffe as a snub. And since you’ll believe anything on loopnut Bloomberg’s site (read YOUR source), they agreed with Twitchy:

“Snubbing the Iron Lady — The Obama administration’s decision not to send any serving official to Margaret Thatcher’s funeral today was a mistake… Administration officials said no one was available because this is a busy week on Capitol Hill… As a result, the Democrat administration looks a little too like the French, or worse, Thatcher’s ideological foes in the U.K., who turned up at the funeral procession to turn their backs in disrespect.”

          • e bow

I am not parsing words the President sent a delegation with representatives. The headline is a lie. That means not true. Take exception to the delegates, but they were there. I am done explaining why the story headline is not true.

          • Roto

Bloomberg’s out? :-) No, you won’t stop lying about the headline.

Question: What “Obama … representative” (headline verbatim) sent, reports directly to Obama?
            Answer: NONE

            I’m done too…

          • e bow

I’m lying now? Is your name Joe McCarthy or do you have a paper in your pocket?

  • Patsplacepp

Shouldn’t Twitchy have an update by now?

Love him or hate him ”

Disappointing: Obama will not send a representative to Thatcher funeral” is wrong

    • Roto

Twitchy doesn’t need updating — “That’s right. President Obama is not sending a single member **of his administration** to represent the United States at Lady Thatcher’s funeral.”

Post the names **of Obama’s administration** sent to the funeral.

  • Golphin

I’m glad hes not going. Oblameo is not qualified to clean her toilets.

  • Stan

Having Obama at the funeral of this Great Lady would no doubt be an embarrassment to this country anyway. I imagine she would have snubbed this low life anyway.

  • http://twitter.com/ltswaney Jeanne Swaney

We taxpayers just spent 500,000 for Joe Biden to go to Paris for one night, along with another bill of $459,000 for one night in London, for who knows what. And now the administration can’t see fit to send anyone over for Lady Thatcher’s funeral? They are blowing money right and left, and yet they can’t attend this woman’s funeral. So why did they go to Hugo Chavez’s funeral?

  • toreilly

    He’s such an embarrassment…

  • Blake Waymire

Obama doesn’t operate on what’s good for the US and her allies, he only operates on what he thinks is best for him. Anyone from the UK reading this, please do not take Obama’s snub to be a reflection of the thoughts of the American people as a whole. I hope that one day in the future we might produce a President who is better than this.

  • j p

The Brits sent a former prime minister to attend Nixon’s funeral. Let’s see what other allies we can snub while we court our enemies.

    • Roto

That was the first PM funeral that the Queen has attended since Churchill’s, but Obama didn’t think it was important….

      • j p

Maybe the queen told him not to come? Maybe she has enough iPods. Classy.

Don’t let Malik use you as a tool to disseminate hate.

  • Dimart45

This administration is continually making our allies wonder why they should bother and treating our enemies with gifts, praise and apologies. Disgusting!

  • InDefenseofFreedom

I know I’m late to this thread but I thought I’d point out…
    – Reagan/Thatcher brought down the Soviet Union
    – BO and Putin are friends
    – I doubt BO thought that bringing down the Soviet Union was a good thing
…just proves we’ve elected the enemy.

  • Dan Thorpe

Not surpising because Lady Thatcher represents everything Progressives despise. I mentioned my disappointment to a lib today and he said good. He called Thatcher scum of the earth.

  • G.

That’s OK homey; we won’t grieve or come to yours when the time comes. You’ll be just another pile of trash taken to the curb.

  • $27789750

Childish and political. We don’t have a statesman at the helm, we have a petulant aging adolescent.

  • SpinMeNot

As opposed to Cynthia McKinney blaming the Boston police? I’ll take someone expressing a belief in what Obama himself claimed (to get a scholarship at Occidental, according to a California Government Document), Michelle claimed (her comment about their visiting the place of his birth, Kenya) and his literally agent propagated in a pamphlet in order to help him sell books over blaming the Boston PD for the bombing.

In the words of a famous National Socialist, “If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth.”

The only thing impressive about your comment is the level of fail you’ve achieved.

  • MurphTacular

First of all, got any sources for the Occidental scholarship (application?) doc? When was Obama filling out a “California Government Document” (whatever THAT is)? Thirdly, when did Michelle say that? (Source?)
And finally, thanks for keeping our collective memory of 2009 alive by referencing the Internet classic put-down of ‘fail.’ Much obliged!

  • SpinMeNot

    Michelle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ks_7y9Nub0w, “his home country”.

I’m not saying he was born there, personally I believe he was born in Hawaii. He’s been taking advantage of the fact that his father was a Kenyan, and he’s hiding that he lied. Shall we talk about his perjuring himself in denying he had ever used any other name than Barack Obama for his Illinois Bar Interview after enrolling and attending Occidental College as Barry Soetoro (the Occidental Transcripts are the only ones we seem to have access to …)

And with regard to my use of fail, sorry, I’m an old man that found out last week while I was in the hospital for yet another respiratory infection that the lab screwed up and its not Osteo in my hands, hips and knees and shoulders, but RA. I take short cuts and type poorly. On the other hand, you are just a snarky ass.

  • MurphTacular

OK, too busy at the moment to run three things down, but I did find out Soetoro was his Filipino step-dad’s name. And sorry for the excessive snark. Hope you get to feeling better! Meanwhile, this is interesting …

  • Brian Roastbeef

I think with that you just treated Murph to a reunion with the Internet-word “pwned.”

  • SpinMeNot

Snopes is notoriously unreliable for many things, sorry, I can’t accept that. I did find it, read it. But I’m sorry, when the WH releases a forged birth certificate (why would they do that, it makes no sense ) — it wasn’t scanned, it was a layered, manufactured PDF created in Photoshop.

  • Brian Roastbeef

You found out that Soetoro was his step-dad’s name. That’s some expert sleuthing to discover something everybody knows. And Lolo Soetoro was Javanese-Indonesian, not Filipino. Those islands out there aren’t all the same.

  • Ronald Green

Snoops… financed by George Sorros and run by two registered Democrats and both proudly radical liberals. Yep that’s a non-biased source isn’t it?

  • Ronald Green

Boy, don’t ‘cha just love it when a libtard troll shows up and starts spewing hate and vitriol? So inclusive and tolerant, so absolutely expected of the hypocritical left.

  • ozconservative

If it wasn’t for “ye olde British Empire” half the civilized world, including the United States, wouldn’t exist.

  • MurphTacular

Also, doubting Snopes? That doesn’t happen much. Says here that even FNC references them and most impressively, so do actual email hoaxers. Go figure.

  • MurphTacular

Sorry, Mr. Roastbeef: Got my islands mixed up while trying to type, do some research, etc. And you guys are far ahead of me in Obama-conspiracy knowledge … “Everybody knows”? Yeah … Maybe everyone who voted Bachmann in 2012 does, but as for the rest of us …

  • MurphTacular

According to wiki (not my fave source, but the only I’ve got at the moment) He’s an independent and former registered Republican. She’s Canadian. Sounds like you’re Zero for Two on the RegDem part … How did you link Soros with Snopes? Never heard THAT …

  • SpinMeNot

Yes, doubting snopes, please read this and form your own opinions.

I learned something some number of years ago — never trust a single site on the internet — find as many independent, unaligned, unsponsored, unfunded sources as you can. Read everything, sort out the chaff and form an informed independent opinion. Anything coming from someone you don’t know personally, is to be questioned ( and occasionally things people you know).

  • MurphTacular

Oh, 2010-internet-phrases like ‘pwned’: How we’ve missed thee!

  • SpinMeNot

lol, thanks, I needed that laugh. Your kind words are appreciated.

  • SpinMeNot

Really? Where have you been? Serious question there btw?

Again, read and form your own opinion.

  • MurphTacular

Where’s the ‘hate and vitriol’ in that post? Just pointing out that D’Souza’s film had enough holes in its theories to be used as a spaghetti strainer. And how is any of this ‘hypocritical,’ ‘left’ or vituperative?

  • Brian Roastbeef

“Lolo Soetoro was Barack Obama’s stepfather” is not a political statement or at all a conspiratorial insinuation. It is a simple historical fact. If it is not common knowledge, it is close enough. It is certainly something that I’d expect anybody who follows modern politics or Presidential history to know.

Then again, perhaps I overestimate the intellect of Obama voters. People for whom the Lena Dunham ad hit home likely have different understandings of worthy knowledge.

  • MurphTacular

Who said I voted for Obama? And if I was aware that Obama’s deceased mother had remarried, I’d forgotten. Quick, without looking it up, what was Gerald Ford’s real last name?

  • Brian Roastbeef

Oh, 2012, in which we all attached years to memes and dismissed others for being outdated like that “2000 and late” episode of South Park.

Oh, 1998, back when everybody was watching South Park and it was considered “edgy.”

Oh, 1992 back when people said “edgy” to mean something innovative and a little bit controversial.

Alas, carrying Obama’s water is timeless, isn’t it?

  • Brian Roastbeef

No problem. Keep fighting the good fight.

  • Brian Roastbeef

King. Leslie King, IIRC. I did not look that up either.

  • Ronald Green

It’s all in the words you choose to use, they identify and define you, but you’re so busy spewing your hate, that you don’t see it.

  • MurphTacular

Huh? How is questioning information and asking for sources an example of “spewing hate”? I thought I was asking questions and trying to learn some new info.

  • MurphTacular

I’ve read a lot about the British Empire. There are lots of interesting things to learn, but it’s all very nuanced and defining ‘civilized’ as only being a society that’s influenced by Western ideals and customs is quite ethnocentric, wouldn’t you say? Were the Chinese uncivilized when they were communicating via written language a few centuries before anyone else?

  • Roto

If we can’t secure our own VIPs, who use our own executive transportation aircraft, we’d better cancel ALL of Obama’s vacations….

  • Roto

Geezuz, another Moonbat. What right do I have? Because I pay for them, idiot. Bush worked at Crawford. Obama swims & plays golf.
And obviously, you’ve never heard of the 89th Airlift Wing. Typical…
