Rut-roh: Dem Senate candidate Tim Kaine favors minimum income tax for 47 percent

Divide? Not if Tim Kaine has anything to say about it. The former Virginia governor and current U.S. Senate candidate, debating opponent George Allen, called for eliminating the divide by instituting a minimum income tax on the 47 percent of Americans who currently don’t pay federal income taxes. Needless to say, this won’t exactly up Kaine’s popularity with Democratic voters, who have spent the past several days bristling at Mitt Romney’s “47 percent” remarks.

Conservatives and liberals alike couldn’t quite believe their ears:

If there were such a thing as verbal seppuku, Kaine would make a fantastic poster child.

It’s not as if Kaine ever had the support of Republican voters. But after today, he may have lost the Democrats as well. Whoopsie!
