Donald Trump’s remarks about Ilhan Omar and the rest of AOC’s squad can most charitably be described as monumentally ill-advised, colossally stupid, and incredibly counterproductive. Seriously, those are the nicest things one can say about them.
But if you’re gonna come at Trump from the “he’s a racist who hates immigrants” angle, it’s probably best not to take the route that author and Washington Post columnist Anne Applebaum took:
