In response to the shootings this past weekend, Bill Clinton was tweeting about his assault weapons ban like it wasn’t a complete joke and failure and pushing for the government to reinstate it.
How many more people have to die before we reinstate the assault weapons ban & the limit on high-capacity magazines & pass universal background checks? After they passed in 1994, there was a big drop in mass shooting deaths. When the ban expired, they rose again. We must act now.

Would seem in his old age Bubba forgot a few things about the so-called ‘assault weapons’ ban, predominately that it DID NOT work.
Like at all.
That is a bold faced lie. That ban did absolutely nothing.

The ban was allowed to expire because it was so full of loopholes it was considered non effective.

This is ridiculously misleading. Studies have concluded that “we cannot clearly credit the ban with any of the nation’s recent drop in gun violence.” https://t.co/iuLO8DR9GN

Gosh, seems like a lot of people remember the ban differently.
Especially this Conservative woman …

Columbine. DC snipers …
Granted, if we’d forgotten these shootings (and many of them, we did) people who don’t inundate themselves with this nonsense 24/7 have surely forgotten. Which is what Bill was hoping for. Luckily there are tweeps out there, like @FreedomRecon, who haven’t forgotten.
Well, lucky unless you’re Bill Clinton.
But wait, there’s more.
Wedgwood Baptist Church, Xerox, Richard Baumhammer shooting spree, Wendy’s, Wakefield, Nevada County, Santana HS, Appalachian School of Law, LAX shooting, John McDonogh HS, Enis shooting, Lockheed Martin, Wesson family shooting.

Surely though Bubba was right, there was a drop in mass shootings, right?
There were 26 mass shootings in the 10 years prior to the assault weapons ban. There were 27 mass shootings during the 10 years of the assault weapons ban.
— Freedom Recon (@FreedomRecon) August 5, 2019
So there were MORE mass shootings under the assault weapons ban.
Nice try, Hillary’s husband.
Also of note: the decline in violent crime started in 1992, well before the AWB was enacted.
