People are so quick to overreact these days … take a deep breath, y’all.
Shame on Dolly Parton to participate with Tomlin & Fonda in Trump hating rant. Good Luck w DollyWood attendance. Don't expect me visiting‼️ pic.twitter.com/A5IROppMiS

Yes, Lily Tomlin said some stupid things about Donald Trump while she was onstage at the Emmys, but Dolly Parton did NOT. What was Dolly supposed to do? Snatch Tomlin by her hair and sing God Bless America?
Live TV is hard, and it’s even HARDER if you’re onstage with two women like Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda.
.@DollyParton is BAE for staying her classy lovely self sandwiched between 2 hot messes. ???❤️?? I think Lily went off script #emmys https://t.co/rHw8IBmgzg

Dolly kept it together, even though she was surrounded by crazy.
Preach.

She clearly knew it was not the time or place to make political commentary.
And yet people are still yelling at her.
Thank goodness for James Woods, who was more than willing to step up and support his good friend and co-star:
I know and love @DollyParton. We worked together for months on #StraightTalk. She is a great, loyal, stand-up American. They sandbagged her. https://t.co/4UMydIJyVJ

They absolutely did.
She is a very sweet person by nature. I am certain she was so caught off-guard, she was literally speechless. @DollyParton #AmericanTreasure https://t.co/nVI4ELDhrf

And she likely knew it wouldn’t solve anything to get in a pissing match with Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda on national television.
Put down your torches and pitchforks, folks.
