The county of Nottinghamshire in Britain has begun a pilot program aimed to reduce domestic violence through a program that replaces pointy knives with dull ones. From ITV:
Nottinghamshire Police is piloting a scheme where victims of domestic violence will have their kitchen knives replaced with blunt utensils, to help stop partners attacking them in their own home.
Around a hundred “no-point” knives will be given to victims who have either been threatened or attacked with a knife.
It comes as police say they’re concerned about the high numbers of knife-related incidents in the home. They say the new scheme could help save lives.

Imagine being the survivor of domestic violence and the police say, “Hey, try a rounded-tip knife instead of a pointy one. This way your abuser will have to slash you instead of stabbing you”:

So let me try and get my head around this….
1) these knives still function so can cut, and could ‘slash’ a victim
2) there are still other item eg heavy chopping boards, glass objects which could be used
