'Are you freaking KIDDING me?' Lawyer's description of his client charged with murder of Mollie Tibbetts sends heads CRASHING to desks

The man who is charged in the killing of University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts, Cristhian Bahena Rivera, made an appearance in court this morning with his legal team. Rivera, who the government says is in the U.S. illegally, was described this way by his attorney:

Yep, that’s what Rivera’s lawyer, Allan Richards, said yesterday while he was trying to make a case for no media coverage of the hearings:

“One nod of the head, one glance, one slight of hand that will be partially taken out of context and presented over and over which would be highly prejudicial to the defendant, so I urge the court to exclude the media from these proceedings,” Richards added.

Richards later explained that before Tibbets’ murder, Rivera had “no prior criminal record,” telling PEOPLE: “He was just a part of the community. An all-American boy working really hard.”

Just… wow.
