Oops? US will consider condolence payments to Syrian troops killed accidentally in coalition airstrike

The U.S. coalition on Saturday called off airstrikes in Syria after Russia claimed they were mistakenly targeting Syrian troops fighting against ISIS, killing around 60 Syrian soldiers in the process.

U.S. Central Command released a statement Saturday afternoon on the incident, noting that Syria “is a complex situation” and that CENTCOM will review the strike “to see if any lessons can be learned.”

Russian sources report that 62 Syrian troops were killed in an airstrike, with the consequence of allowing ISIS to advance in the region.
