As reported by The Daily Caller, the powers that be at Twitter decided to add a black power emoji to accompany the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag, rolling out the “feature” the day after five officers were ambushed and killed while policing an otherwise peaceful protest march in downtown Dallas.

The raised fist resembles that demonstrated by Dallas shooting suspect Micah Xavier Johnson, only in triplicate, apparently so that Twitter executives didn’t have to risk choosing the incorrect skin tone.

As of Saturday evening, the emoji was still being added to the hashtag, even retrospectively, gracing tweets by the likes of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and celebrated Native American Sen. Elizabeth Warren with a trio of black power fists.

(Warren’s extended selection of names is another issue entirely, what with its inclusion of Sandra Bland and Freddie Gray; though both died while in custody, law enforcement has not been found culpable in either death.)

On the plus side, the black power symbol isn’t quite as offensive as some of the homemade combinations featured here.

How’s that #BlueLivesMatter emoji coming? Or did everyone at Twitter get the day off to lie down in the highway and block traffic?
