While the terrorist attack on Istanbul’s airport was playing out in Turkey Tuesday, there was a frightening scene in downtown Denver, Colo., as police dealt with an active shooter in a crowded office building.

It’s not possible to coax much good news from this story, other than to report that police say that it was not a random or terrorist attack and that the only casualty reported is the shooter, who took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot. Unfortunately, the woman he was targeting was shot multiple times and is in critical condition.
The victim was a target of the shooter. It was not random, @DenverPolice spokesman said.

The woman is the only victim transported from the scene. Currently they are not expecting additional victims, he said.

The Denver Post reported for some reason that the Alliance Center houses “a number of left-leaning political and environmental groups” but made no guess as to the shooter’s motive.
Police say that they’re trying to establish the relationship between the shooter and the gunshot victim.
