MSNBC’s Alex Wagner interviewed Deray McKesson, who’s been referred to as a “professional protester” for his ability to appear in Ferguson, Baltimore, McKinney, Texas or wherever there’s racial unrest that needs fomenting. Part of Wagner’s interview focused on the #GoHomeDeray hashtag that sprang up from people who wish the person who has made himself a central figure in so many protests would take some time off (or as MSNBC put it, “Civil rights activist attacked on Twitter”).
Why is McKesson being asked to give it a rest? Part of the reason might be found in the mixed messages, as @SarahrStevenson demonstrated:
