Marie Harf perplexed by New York Times report on increase in Iran's nuclear fuel stockpile

The New York Times reported Tuesday that Iran has increased its nuclear fuel stockpile by 20 percent over the past 18 months, according to a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Those numbers, reports the Washington Free Beacon, have State Department spokesperson Marie Harf “perplexed.”

Harf explained that “the notion in the story that western officials or U.S. officials involved were unaware of this issue or not understanding of what this entails is just absurd,” adding that the numbers, according to the Joint Plan of Action (JPOA), “can go up and down as long as at the end of fixed date they are back down below a number.”

Perplexing indeed.

Harf fired back at the Free Beacon and the New York Times for their inaccuracies.
