'Rest in peace, sweet girl': Family confirms death of ISIS hostage Kayla Mueller

Devastating news this morning, as the family of humanitarian aid worker and ISIS hostage Kayla Mueller has confirmed her death. She was just 26 years old.

“We are heartbroken to share that we’ve received confirmation that Kayla Jean Mueller, has lost her life,” Mueller’s parents said in a statement released four days after the militant group claimed the Arizona native had been killed by a coalition airstrike near Raqqa, Syria.

“Kayla was a compassionate and devoted humanitarian. She dedicated the whole of her young life to helping those in need of freedom, justice, and peace,” the statement added.
