John Boehner: Spending bill passage sets up 'direct challenge' to executive amnesty

Thursday night’s vote in the House to pass a $1.1 trillion spending bill and avert a government shutdown was seen as a win for both House Speaker John Boehner and the White House — but to conservatives it looked a little more like this:

Boehner took to Twitter soon after the vote to reassure the conservative base that passage of the #CRomnibus was all part of the plan to kill off the president’s extra-constitutional executive action on amnesty. And it was bipartisan!

Well, since he put it that way, maybe it’s time to have some faith in the speaker.
