Slain teen Michael Brown’s parents went almost all the way to the top. While the pair didn’t address the United Nations General Assembly, on Tuesday they did testify behind closed doors before a U.N. committee. By the way, that committee was the United Nations Committee Against Torture.

Well, if Brown’s parents can make a case for torture, it opens the door for the United Nations to claim that the United States has violated the U.N. Convention Against Torture and Other
Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. The Brown family and their supporters are hoping the U.N. can pressure the United States to follow their recommendations, including the immediate arrest of Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, the granting of amnesty to any protesters arrested, imposition of racial quotas in Missouri’s police forces, and “a nationwide investigation of systematic police brutality and harassment in black and brown communities” by the Attorney General.
