Former special counsel Jack Smith testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday about his investigation into President Donald Trump. Smith came across as particularly subpoena-happy. Sen. Chuck Grassley's office issued a statement saying that, according to a whistleblower, Smith's team acquired checks from nearly 5,000 Americans who had donated as little as $1 to Trump between September 2019 and August 2023.
