USPS Whistleblower Says Trump Officials Were Defying Court Order With ‘Rushed, Secretive’ Effort

As Twitchy reported, it was a back-and-forth week between the Supreme Court and a federal judge last week regarding President Trump's executive order on election integrity, "Ensuring Citizenship Verification and Integrity in Federal Elections." The Supreme Court cleared the path on Monday for the measures to go ahead, but Judge Indira Talwani blocked them from going into effect. She ruled on Wednesday that the U.S. Postal Service “feigned complete compliance” and violated her injunction by finalizing the new rules. On Thursday, she lifted her injunction but left things open for states to sue again, which they did. Then, she once again blocked the executive order from taking effect for 14 days.

One of the ballot integrity measures Trump called for was having the Postal Service add unique ballot envelope identifiers, such as barcodes, for mail-in or absentee ballots. Now, The New York Times is reporting that a Postal Service whistleblower reported significant concerns about the "secretive, rushed, chaotic, and fundamentally flawed process for the creation and implementation of an entire new and untested set of IT systems. Of course, it's rushed. Trump signed the EO back in March, but it's been held up in court while opponents of the measures wait out the clock until the first mail-in ballots go out.

Oh, shut up. California is a big part of the problem, suing to prevent itself from providing voter rolls so that the DHS can check for citizenship.

The American people deserve answers before a single ballot is put at risk.

A U.S. Postal Service official has alleged that the agency is moving forward with a “secretive, rushed” effort to implement President Trump’s order exerting federal control over mail voting, despite a court order blocking those plans.

The official filed a whistle-blower report, published on Tuesday morning by the office of Senator Richard Blumenthal, Democrat of Connecticut, asserting that the “risky and haphazard” implementation of Mr. Trump’s order could lead to a “catastrophic failure” in the mail ballot system ahead of this year’s midterm elections. The report said that the agency had planned to complete the new digital system overseeing mail ballots by Sept. 1.

“Potentially millions of American voters may not receive their mail-in ballot this election cycle in a timely manner, or at all,” the official said in the report, which was prepared with the assistance of Whistleblower Aid, a nonprofit group that represents people seeking to expose potential lawbreaking.

"The official at the Postal Service raised 'grave concerns' in the report that the verification process in the system could reject tens of thousands of ballots in a bulk-mailing batch if 'even one bar code on one single ballot' failed to properly scan, and that the rushed, 'slapdash' development of the system would significantly increase the chance of errors and other failures in the verification process," Cameron added.

So the official, who works for the Postal Service, is afraid that “even one bar code on one single ballot” could fail to properly scan. So, it's better to just send mail-in ballots to everyone on the voter rolls with no tracking system whatsoever, because that's so much more secure. Where is this "grave concern" about electronic voting and even one ballot failing to scan properly? Let's go to paper ballots and voter ID so that Trump can't cheat.
