Sen. Chris Van Hollen Has a New 'Maryland Man' in Teacher of the Year Recipient

Has Sen. Chris Van Hollen ever posted about the victims of illegal aliens, because all we see is him running to their defense, even if that means flying to El Salvador and sharing margaritas? Van Hollen has a new "Maryland man." He's in ICE custody, and Van Hollen wants him released now.

KBAL reports:

Attorneys for a researcher and professor at University of Maryland, Baltimore said his arrest last month was against the law.

Berhanu Kibret, a professor at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, has been in ICE detention since he was arrested on July 21 at a Texas airport after attending a national conference and receiving the "Teacher of the Year" award.

ICE stated that Kibret, originally from Ethiopia, entered the U.S. lawfully in 2021 and that his authorized stay expires on May 31, 2024.

In a statement to WBAL-TV 11 News, an ICE representative wrote, "It is a privilege to be granted a visa to enter the United States. ICE will continue to enforce federal immigration law and arrest those who violate the terms of their admission to uphold the rule of law."

It's a myth that Democrats even want the worst of the worst deported. They want to abolish ICE and end deportations, period.

Maybe there should be a "teacher of the year" exemption to our immigration laws. Congress would have to write it, though.
