Both Canadians and Americans are saying that the U.S. Men's Hockey Team is celebrating its Olympic win incorrectly. The Globe and Mail, which called the team members the monkeys at President Donald Trump's State of the Union address, says they could have acted more modestly. Former sportscaster and current loser Keith Olbermann declared them to be "self-absorbed scumbag misogynists."
And now The New York Times' sports supplement, The Athletic, is saying that the men's team has sucked all of the joy out of victory.
From @TheAthletic: "The U.S. men’s hockey team won Olympic gold for the first time since the 'Miracle on Ice' 46 years ago, and for a time, the joy belonged to everyone," our columnist writes. "By the next day, it didn’t." https://t.co/CEEywvfRYe pic.twitter.com/zMilXntHnF

It’s nice to be feted as a winner, as the U.S. men's Olympic hockey team has been.

But who’s celebrating you – and why they’re doing it – matters more.
Athletes would be wise to recognize that, in this climate, celebration is easily repurposed into political capital. pic.twitter.com/Bk7HT3O3hg
Give it up already.
It literally does not “matter more”. You made that up. Fuck you.

Somebody needs to do a study to find out why 95% of sports reporters are absolutely unhinged Progressive wackos, when and how did this happen? https://t.co/CrFPphu3uc

Presidents have been inviting champions of sports to the White House for decades. The repurposing of that into something political is being done by you and other media outlets.

You’re embarrassing yourself.

So many pundits have embarrassed themselves this week. Perhaps by tomorrow, they'll find the next outrage to report on.
