Gov. Gavin Newsom says the GOP is trying to wipe away history as he tours museum about slavery

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is obviously going to primary Joe Biden in 2024, announced last week his $10 million “Campaign for Democracy,” a nationwide tour to see firsthand the right-wing assaults across the nation. A lot of people pointed out that California has banned state-funded travel to more than 20 red states over their abortion bans and anti-transgender legislation and voter suppression laws. But Newsom’s broken those rules before, vacationing in Montana, so the rules don’t apply to him.

One of the big lies about conservatives opposed to teaching critical race theory in schools is that it meant they didn’t want slavery taught. Some genius at TheGrio wrote that “in places like Florida” books that even mention black people are illegal. CBS This Morning couldn’t believe that Florida might ban a book just for having a black character.

Newsom is pandering to blacks Tuesday by visiting The Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration in Montgomery, Alabama. Newsom claims that Republican leaders are trying to “wipe away our history,” while he tours a museum about the black struggle.

Hey, he had a camera crew and everything.

You mean his “Campaign for Democracy” is just a 2024 campaign tour? No way.
