Stephen Colbert spots the one key factor that could end Gov. Ron DeSantis' presidential aspirations

“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert isn’t even bothering with the clown nose routine — his show is just an extension of the DNC, and not a funny one. Back in December, Colbert noted that likely 2024 presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis was outpolling Donald Trump. “That’s like a poll between gonorrhea and a slightly more racist gonorrhea. Apologies to gonorrhea.” So Colbert is rooting for another four years of Joe Biden or is he hoping someone a little less senile steps up?

“Racist gonorrhea” — they actually have a writers’ room to come up with this comedy gold.

Now HuffPost is eagerly reporting that Colbert has spotted the one key factor that could sink DeSantis’ presidential aspirations.

Please, tell us:

First, Colbert pointed to a report in Politico in which GOP insiders say that DeSantis “lacks charm.”

“Oh come on,” Colbert said in mock disbelief. “He’s got the smooth style of a nonplayable character in a PlayStation 2 game.”

But DeSantis has an even bigger flaw: His schmoozing game is weak.

“Ron is at his best on paper,” a Florida political leader told New York magazine last year. “Then you meet him and you say, ‘Oh, my gosh.’”

Colbert agreed — for a different reason.

“It’s true, DeSantis is best on paper,” he said. “Specifically, that roll by the toilet.”

Which GOP insiders? The Lincoln Project? And a Florida political leader interviewed by New York magazine.

They’re scared to death of DeSantis and it’s pathetically obvious.

DeSantis turned Florida red in the midterms, but tell us more, GOP insiders. Who are the GOP insiders backing? Larry Hogan? Jeb Bush?
