Sean Penn tells Jim Acosta he'll melt down his Oscars if Volodymyr Zelensky doesn't make an appearance

As Twitchy reported earlier this week, Academy Awards host Amy Schumer said that she was trying to arrange for Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky to make a virtual appearance at the Oscars. It sounded like a ploy to get people to watch the show; Oscar viewership in 2021 suffered a massive 51 percent drop from the previous year. Schumer, who claims to be a comedian, said she had “some jokes that kind of highlight the sort of current condition.”

The suggestion was taken seriously — the Hollywood elite always take themselves very seriously — and actor Sean Penn told CNN’s Jim Acosta that if the Academy didn’t find a way for Zelensky to make an appearance, he’d melt down his Oscars in public.

What is Zelensky is, you know, like, busy that night?

What kind of threat is that exactly? Penn smelting his own Oscars? In public?
