Wall Street Journal: AT&T, Sprint also tracked, credit card transactions cataloged

So, is anyone surprised to learn that the NSA’s secret tracking of cell phone activity wasn’t limited to Verizon? The Wall Street Journal reports tonight that both AT&T and Sprint are being mined for data as well, so that “every time the majority of Americans makes a call, NSA gets a record of the location, the number called, the time of the call and the length of the conversation.”

Also, sources tell the Wall Street Journal that the NSA cataloged credit-card transactions, although it’s unclear if that was part of an ongoing data mining effort or a “one-shot” collection effort.
