My daughter asked me to please stop writing about Cornell Seven. Why? She says people her age (teens and twenties) are so enraged about this story, they won't listen and she is afraid we will be doxxed (again).
Never bend a knee to the rage mob. Ever.

I explained to her that sometimes we have to do what is right in the face of the mob, not because these young men are worthy of defense, but because calling things rape that are not, makes it harder for the next actual sex crimes victim to get justice.
There was a great deal of abhorrent behavior from all sides in this story, but that doesn't mean someone belongs in jail. A whole bunch of young people need a whole lot more time in church. I'll readily admit that.

Civil Complaint vs. 2024 Sworn Statement Summary
I read through the 101-page civil complaint because I wanted to compare Jane Doe’s allegations in the lawsuit with the account Tompkins County DA Matthew Van Houten summarized from… pic.twitter.com/wpG61w4WQn
I also think it's important to point out we are discussing two different accounts by the same woman.
One was made several years ago to campus police and the regular police and then the other statement is from now, as she is suing civilly.
She is suing a whole bunch of people: her sorority, the fraternity, the bars, the school and the young men. She'll likely get big paydays from all of them. I think that's a shame because it relieves her of any culpability. She has plenty.

If you want to read both complaints yourself?
My larger concern is the way this has become an online rage mob. People refuse to listen to reason, to pertinent law, to the rules in New York surrounding consent, and honestly even plain logic.
All the mob wants to do is post the pictures of the men, post their names and their job, post the homes of their parents and heck, even the names of their Moms.
The mob wants to say things like 'seven men raped her in seven hours' when even she says she did not have intercourse with three of the men ever.
The mob wants to insist some of the men were given the punishment of an essay when the 'essay' was only a part of the punishment and only given to the men who didn't engage in intercourse with her.
Also, the mob declines to admit one of the men DID shut it down, kicked everyone out of his room, and the girl went to another room with some of the men to start again.
The mob also can't explain why her drunken state prevented her from consenting, but the men's drunken state didn't prevent them from consenting.
I’m speculating here, but her account reads to me like Male 1 was the person she actually wanted to be with. She agreed to the initial threesome with Males 1 and 2, and possibly the later threesome with Males 1 and 4, because that was what Male 1 wanted.

The other interactions…
She was embarrassed the day after. Any woman who has had a drunken encounter and awoke the next morning absolutely humiliated, gets it. She probably believed (sober) that there was no way she would have consented to such vile behavior. The problem is, our inhibitions do fall when inebriated and we often do things we'd never dream of sober. That's why my Dad used to say 'no good comes from alcohol' and he walked that walk. He rarely drank. I maybe saw him drink five times in my whole life. He felt like it mostly caused more harm than good. Mix Ketamine into the equation and there is no telling what she agreed to.
It was a bad night. That does mean people should end up in jail.
