Glenn Close Posted From Home. After Dolly, It Doesn’t Feel Casual

Fresh off reeling from the death of Dolly Parton, now Glenn Close posts this video.

Maybe Glenn is just checking in to say hello to fans. Obviously, she is enjoying some time away and isn't in her Hollywood glam. None of us look our best when we are hanging out at home. Maybe we are all just overreacting because the loss of Dolly is so fresh, but this just feels like losing another legend.

I know Close’s politics are nothing like mine. I still try to keep some joy in my life and leave politics out of the movies I watch. Too many actors these days won’t let the audience do that. They insist on becoming campaign surrogates instead of entertainers. I’ve loved Close in so many of my favorite films, so I’ll hold on to those memories and ignore the ill-informed comments she makes on subjects she has no business lecturing anyone about.

This is a good way to look at it. It’s far less about the actress and more about what the movies represent in our lives. It was a favorite with a best friend, a first date, a break from studying for finals, or a fun outing after a day at the beach. It was the movie you went to when you were home from college on break, or the one you flipped on for background noise while you nursed a new baby.

Yes, we don't know these people. Our lives will go on. It still feels like a loss. Hopefully, Close is well and this was just a strange video.

None of us is promised another second.

Tell the people you love that you love them.
Apologize if you need to.
And thank God — always—for everything He has done for you.
