The last few weeks have been quite revealing, especially about teachers and nurses. I want to focus specifically on the nursing and healthcare industries.
I got a real peek into hospitals and staff back in 2021 when my dad got severely ill with COVID. Until then, my family had been relatively healthy, and I hadn't had much exposure to hospitals. Needless to say, I was shocked. I encountered rude, uncaring nurses, dismissive doctors, and an overall sense of apathy. At the time, I chalked it up to burnout from the pandemic and assumed things would return to normal once it was over.
When my mom was diagnosed with stomach cancer in December 2024, I realized not much had changed. Most of the nurses were still extremely rude, doctors acted as though I was bothering them, and I didn't feel safe leaving my mom alone for even a short time. To her credit, the renowned specialist surgeon—who is well-respected worldwide—was the most kind and caring professional I met. Go figure: someone who actually had reason to have an ego was the most humble of the bunch.
When I saw these stories about insane nurses this week, I wasn't that shocked.
Effective today, Erik Martindale is no longer a registered nurse in Florida.

Healthcare is not contingent on political beliefs, and we have zero tolerance for partisans who put politics above their ethical duty to treat patients with the respect and dignity they deserve. https://t.co/JuUXdNvEfe

Something has gone very wrong. I assume these nurses are being radicalized at college and then bringing those attitudes into careers where politics shouldn't matter. Clearly these nurses don't feel that way.
So many of you have asked why so many healthcare professionals are getting radicalized. I present to you exhibit A: r/nursing

Reddit also seems to be a place they gather to spew their nonsense. It's sickening.
And here's the response I penned up and hit send (to the attached comment) when I realized I was banned:

When nurses try to come in and offer an opposing point of view, they are quickly banned. Libs do love their echo chambers.
The moral of the story: Hospitals are basically hotel rooms with testing equipment and prescription medications close by. Please don't leave a loved one alone ever, if possible, ask lots of questions, listen and never be afraid to ask for another nurse if you're uncomfortable. Your healthcare is too important.
