Yesterday, I mentioned Senator Klobuchar’s plea to help two able-bodied early retirees who want today’s workers to cover their health insurance costs until they hit 65 and qualify for government-subsidized healthcare. I’ve got little sympathy for this couple. Retiring early is great, and people should absolutely go for it—if they can cover their own bills.
My dad passed away at 71, and I’m grateful he took an early retirement package at 59. He was recovering from cancer, and when his employer offered it, he didn’t hesitate. It was a godsend. The reason he could swing it? His 20 years of service in the National Guard, which earned him benefits that kicked in at 60. He only had to cover a few months of COBRA. Thanks to his long service to our country, my parents could retire early without expecting other Americans to foot their healthcare costs.
We're two geriatric Gen Xers who just lost our employee-sponsored health insurance because we're taking the leap and starting a small business. You know what? NOT YOUR PROBLEM. Our decision. It's not up to Millennials to pay subsidies for our health care.

It's wonderful to start new businesses and to retire early, but you must be able to manage your lifestyle if you make those leaps.
Why should tax payers cover the subsidies, I don’t want that. I pay taxes. A lot, and pay for my very expensive healthcare too. Plus people take advantage of the ACA, there is a lot of corruption. The government should pull out of this mess.

Maybe they should un-retire.

Yeah...they gotta go back to work.

What a concept!
This couple is also making $136,000 a year off of pension & IRA savings in retirement and were getting $15,000 a year tax credit. They literally should be the poster child for ending the enhanced tax credits & an example of everything wrong with it. pic.twitter.com/J1ucvdz7E9

Bill and Shelley are only clearing $127K in pensions. Why can't you find it in your heart to support their early retirement and travel? Ya 'ol meanie! pic.twitter.com/WeXqUTx87u

Raise your hand if Healthcare costs post ACA have pushed back your retirement date and you qualify for nearly nothing in subsidies.

WHY are they going to pay $2224 a month for healthcare?

ACA was supposed to make healthcare affordable.
It hasn't.
It has only forces taxpayers to pay for our own insurance and someone else's, too.
It's time for ACA to go away. https://t.co/6DtJXV2DIl
REPORTER: "Thune offered to negotiate on the ACA with you if you reopen the government. Why not take the deal?"

Sen Chuck Schumer: "That's no deal, that's a partisan plan that leaves the American people high and dry."

The Democrats don't want functioning government. They love this nonsense.
