No matter what the issue you can be sure to find an elected Republican who will go mealy mouthed, trying to lower expectations instead of standing up for a principle. People understand that not every effort is going to be successful but conservative voters are getting increasingly frustrated with Republicans who seem to be waiting for guaranteed success before forcefully supporting something.
Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick is feeling the heat from some of those voters after saying there isn’t support for open carry in Texas after he campaigned on that very issue.

The left keeps it’s base motivated by not attenuating their passion or support for an issue based on whether the votes are there at the moment. That’s something Republicans would be wise to emulate.
