'Do NOT stand for Bill de Blasio's war' on charter schools: Fired-up Jedediah Bila shares must-see video

“Outnumbered” co-host and former teacher Jedediah Bila is a fierce warrior against assaults on American education. She’s taken on New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s shameful war on charter schools before. After seeing this important video from TheBlaze, Bila is continuing her fight.

“Alise vs. the Mayor” is the first episode in Will Cain’s mini-series that “follows a 10-year-old girl named Alise Alexander and her mother as their lives are turned upside down by de Blasio’s actions.” TheBlaze reports:

Many were stunned that de Blasio would go after the Success Academy charter schools in particular, where 97 percent of the students are black and Hispanic, and more than three quarters are poor enough to qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. The students are selected in a lottery, and still, Success Academy’s fifth graders in Harlem scored first in the state in math in 2013.

“Not the rich kids on the Upper East Side, not the rich white kids in Westchester,” Cain said. “These kids ranked first.”

“I started crying when I first heard that our school might be shut down,” said Alise. “My friend sitting next to me started to cry. It was pretty emotional.” Watching Alise and her mom tell their story is well worth your time.
