Forget the toilets for two and complimentary hotel room DNA deposits. That’s not the worst of it for media covering the Sochi Winter Olympics.
So you're saying I can't get a massage in Sochi. pic.twitter.com/63glMHG5iY

@samdolnick Or you can get a massage all the time?
— Naila-Jean Meyers (@NailaJeanMeyers) February 5, 2014
@NailaJeanMeyers The local idiom for "when pigs fly," turns out to be "when you can get a massage in Sochi."
— Sam Dolnick (@samdolnick) February 5, 2014
@sarahlyall it's probably just as well.

We snicker at journos and their freaky and hilarious “Sochi problems,” and on this one, we’re laughing with them. But here’s some sobering (and much-needed) perspective from chess champ and Human Rights Foundation chairman Garry Kasparov.
It is hard not to laugh at the mess in Sochi & journalists having bad time with nothing ready, but is distraction from true catastrophe.

$51 billion looted for a dictator's 5-ring circus; mountains of trash & polluted water for Sochi residents; martial law in whole region.
— Garry Kasparov (@Kasparov63) February 5, 2014
I hope the journalists in Sochi complaining about a lack of doorknobs & wifi pay as much attention to the lack of free speech & elections.

In two weeks Games will be over & journos will go home w funny stories. Russians will be left with mess, debt, & the same crooks & thugs.
— Garry Kasparov (@Kasparov63) February 5, 2014
At least the journos could take the next step and ask why & how $51 billion & 7 years not enough for wifi & doorknobs in a dictatorship.
— Garry Kasparov (@Kasparov63) February 5, 2014
Are many answers, but one is that mafia-style system is nearly as inefficient as Communism. No market competition, only loyalty to boss.
— Garry Kasparov (@Kasparov63) February 5, 2014
Doesn't matter how good or bad of a job you do. The only doorknob that matters in Russia is the one that opens the door to Putin's office.
— Garry Kasparov (@Kasparov63) February 5, 2014
This is why free market matters for a free people. Without it, cronyism & corruption take over. Govt soon only source of real power, money.

"Drink the water". RT @Hjelll: @Kasparov63 what would you say to those democratic world leaders who are justifying them going to the games?
— Garry Kasparov (@Kasparov63) February 5, 2014
Sochi dogs not doing well either. MT @bscagliotti: That olympic games are a scandal doesn't mean journalists have to be treated like dogs.
