SCOTUSblog has been tweeting updates from inside the Supreme Court hearing on Prop 8 this morning. It’s never too early to consult the Magic 8-Ball.
Breaking: 1st update- #prop8 unlikely to be upheld; either struck down or #scotus won’t decide case. More in 30 mins.
— SCOTUSblog (@SCOTUSblog) March 26, 2013
Breaking: key vote Kennedy VERY uncomfortable striking down #prop8. Suggests dismissing case. Would leave in place 9th Cir pro-#ssm ruling.
— SCOTUSblog (@SCOTUSblog) March 26, 2013
There are not 5 votes to strike down #prop8 and recognize equal right to #ssm at this time
— SCOTUSblog (@SCOTUSblog) March 26, 2013
Arguments done. #scotus won’t uphold or strike down #prop8 bc Kennedy thinks it is too soon to rule on #ssm. #prop8 will stay invalidated.

Media and observers on the Left and Right are suspicious of @SCOTUSblog’s bold and early prediction.
And Individ Mandate won't survive RT: @SCOTUSblog: There are not 5 votes to strike down #prop8 & recognize equal right to #ssm at this time

It's hopeless, don't even try RT @samsteinhp: Remember, first impressions of SCOTUS oral arguments are always spot on #obamacare

Maybe just relax with all the prophecy, @SCOTUSBlog, and tell us what's being said.
— southpaw (@nycsouthpaw) March 26, 2013
Really strange for @SCOTUSblog to make that bold a call while argument still ongoing. Wonder what happened.
— delrayser (@delrayser) March 26, 2013
I'd be really surprised if that @SCOTUSblog prediction was merely tea leaf reading based on Qs. They don't usually do that sort of thing.

Had explained to non-Catholics that guessing the outcome of a papal election is as futile as guessing a SCOTUS decision. Now seeing my error

Speculation @SCOTUSblog: Arguments done. won’t uphold or strike down #prop8 bc Kennedy thinks it is too soon to rule. will stay invalidated.

The Justices have yet to vote and can sometimes veer from oral arguments, so it appears that SCOTUSblog tweet could be premature.

I love @SCOTUSblog, and it has earned vast credibility, but it's going a bit God-himself-cannot-sink-this-ship today.
