Remember their names: Medical examiner releases list of women and children killed in Newtown massacre

Dr. H. Wayne Carver, Connecticut’s chief medical examiner, has released the names of the 20 children and six adult women killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Conn. The heartbreaking list includes 12 girls and eight boys, all between the ages of 6 and 7.

They should be remembered not as tragic statistics, but by name. Micah Grimes, a Tampa-based assignment editor, honored them by tweeting each name.

Editor’s note: In a statement, Lauren’s mother Terri spelled her daughter’s name “Lauren Rousseau” and that is how most media outlets are reporting the spelling.

Nancy Lanza, the shooter’s mother, was also killed in her Newtown home earlier on Friday.
