Former FBI director James Comey has withdrawn a motion to make his upcoming testimony before the House Judiciary Committee open to the public.
Comey claims he doesn’t want to be in contempt, and that is why he has now agreed to “sit in the dark.”
Grateful for a fair hearing from judge. Hard to protect my rights without being in contempt, which I don’t believe in. So will sit in the dark, but Republicans agree I’m free to talk when done and transcript released in 24 hours. This is the closest I can get to public testimony.

Meanwhile, Republican Rep. Bob Goodlatte (Va.), who is the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, says it was Comey’s effort to try to run out the clock on a GOP-controlled Congress.
Comey withdraws motion to quash the House subpoena for a private deposition. His counsel says Comey lawyers "reached an acceptable accommodation with U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary for voluntary testimony."

The real question is whether Republicans will be successful in getting any answers about Comey’s behavior on the Hillary Clinton investigation and the circumstances surrounding the 2016 election.
