Scott Wolf, staff writer for the Los Angeles Daily news, reports that the firing was done immediately after the USC plane landed at LAX:

Lane Kiffin got pulled off the team bus at Los Angeles International Airport by Pat Haden when he was fired #USC

— InsideUSC (@InsideUSC) September 29, 2013

I'm told Lane Kiffin told the bus to wait but then #USC administrators told it to go back to campus without him

If you want specifics, Lane Kiffin was fired right outside Landmark Aviation terminal at LAX #USC

— InsideUSC (@InsideUSC) September 29, 2013

I'm told the decision to fire Lane Kiffin was made during the third quarter of the loss to Arizona State #USC

— InsideUSC (@InsideUSC) September 29, 2013

To recap, Lane Kiffin pulled of team bus outside LAX private terminal and fired. Team went back to #USC without him

Kiffin didn’t exactly command the respect and admiration of college football fans.

The only thing more humiliating than being Josh Freeman today would be being Lane Kiffin today.

Not sure why I'm so late to the party, but I haven't sent out my obligatory tweet celebrating Lane Kiffin's termination. So: "YAY!"

"Lane Kiffin is the Miley Cyrus of college football. He's got no talent, but we can't take our eyes off of him." – Paul Finebaum (@finebaum)

If anyone was going to be fired at an airport parking lot and be denied a ride back home, I'm glad it could be you, Lane Kiffin.

Any day that Lane Kiffin is fired and left stranded in a parking lot is the best day of my life. Go Vols.

— Aaron F Wiles (@afwiles) September 29, 2013

Lane Kiffin should be thankful they left him at LAX. If they'd left him in El Paso after the Sun Bowl he'd be dead by now.

Smart move firing #LaneKiffin at the airport…saves them telling him to "pack your bags"…you're fired…..

— Kimba Rudd (@Kimba012) September 29, 2013

Lane Kiffin might have been the worst coach hire at a major college football school in my lifetime

— El Plato (@SamtheAnswer) September 29, 2013

Lane Kiffin will be screwing up orders at McDonalds next season!

Brutal!
