LOL, what?
#BREAKING: A COVID testing site at the Getty Center has detected LA's first case of flurona, a combination of influenza and coronavirus. https://t.co/POJ29MnEZD
— CBS Los Angeles (@CBSLA) January 5, 2022
And we really like how they bury this at the very end of the article:
The detection of flurona should not be cause for alarm, Berzan said, but another reminder to take precautions such as wearing a mask, washing hands, and staying home when sick.
By the way, this is not something that’s even new:
A number of articles this week about coinfection with COVID-19 and flu. This isn't new and has been observed since the early days of the pandemic. 206 people in the U.S. are currently hospitalized with a COVID/influenza coinfection https://t.co/JKUBvStfFu

Please don’t do this journos:
Please for the love of god do not make "flurona" a thing, media people https://t.co/4F1KHAVZPG

This is *exactly* what they’re doing:
Flurona? Are you high?
"Hey, this person got the flu and covid at the same time. We have to give it a really stupid name so people will think it's novel and dangerous and not just what happens with multiple infectious diseases." https://t.co/N52Lr2a046

They won’t stop:
Sick of this dumb alarmist shit. Stop trying to make "flurona" happen. https://t.co/JVk3QKvUYV
— Louis Peitzman (@LouisPeitzman) January 5, 2022
But it’s good to see so many blue-checks calling them out:
This is not new. There have been reports of being infected with both the flu and COVID-19 as early as spring 2020. https://t.co/bfeUlOZZxI

Also, this sounds fake as hell. https://t.co/CWHOQqagCN

I love pandemic terror as much as the next guy, but I must point out that "flurona" is not a thing. The kid had a flu and also Covid. it happens https://t.co/wGQP2Tk9Nk

Calling this “flurona” instead of just saying that someone simultaneously got the flu and covid is a bad conscious choice/newsroom call https://t.co/iFbpc8KZp0
