As we just told you, retired fighter pilot Amy McGrath is set to challenge Mitch McConnell over his U.S. Senate seat and NBC’s Kasie Hunt is pretty psyched for the “blockbuster race”:
This is going to be a blockbuster race https://t.co/NEiuSu6tCl

Um, Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton by 30 points in 2016:
If by “blockbuster” you mean “media builds up opponent who will lose to @Team_Mitch by double digits” then sure.

And if you recall, the media did the same thing in 2014 when McConnell defeated Alison Lundergan Grimes by 16 points:
I recall in ‘14 when Democrats successfully convinced the media (including me!) Alison Lundergan Grimes was on the verge on vanquishing McConnell.
Then he won by 15. #KYSEN https://t.co/PBkTYHCoZO

Hunt thinks McGrath will be a better candidate for some reason:
I take your point. Respectfully, having interviewed both of them, Grimes and McGrath are completely different candidates.

If you recall, McGrath got trounced in 2018, which was a wave year for Dems:

Amy McGrath blew a suburban KY House race in 2018 despite spending huge amounts of money. Statewide in 2020 against @Team_Mitch will be infinitely more difficult.
Why? She’s still the same person who called herself “the most progressive person in Kentucky” https://t.co/b7c9oq8Rrb

Has the AP called the race yet?
She is going to be blocked and busted. https://t.co/uAre1dATl0
