Muslim women in Britain are demanding the Conservative Party kick out Boris Johnson after he wrote in an op-ed that burkas “make women look like bank robbers” or “letter boxes”:
Boris Johnson's comments "dehumanise us" says a woman who has signed a letter to Conservative chair Brandon Lewis calling for the former foreign secretary to be kicked out of the party

The comments have been called “dog-whistle Islamophobia”:
Boris and the Burka — we've heard a lot about labour's anti-semitism problem … What about the Tories? Are politicians like Boris Johnson pandering to the far right with dog-whistle islamophobia?https://t.co/k4H4CISALk

Wow. So, let’s check out this hate-filled op-ed on burkas, shall we? Wait, wut…
So Muslim women who wear burkas want Johnson kicked out of politics for … defending their right to wear burkas? Johnson was even investigated for a hate crime over the comments:
Boris Johnson’s comment that Muslim women who wear burkas look like bank robbers does not reach the “bar” to be considered a hate crime, the head of the Metropolitan police said today https://t.co/YJJSqDYtlk

Whis is absolutely ridiculous:
I agree Boris is a bit of a nob, but this is ridiculous. He was crass & insensitive. I wouldn’t use the words he did, as my mother brought me up better, to always be polite. But this is absolute nonsense. He should be given a stern telling off by the whip, and then we all move on https://t.co/vddURNWkvz

And let’s not forget he was defending the burka!
The most absurd thing about this is that—poor choice of words and backwards opinions aside—he was actually arguing *against* banning the burka. There's something a little Pravda-esque about this whole production of outrage. https://t.co/qkqEk7PnKi

And we’re not even sure Johnson has anything to apologize for:
Here’s Jacob Rees-Mogg on the Boris Johnson burka row:
‘It's hard to see what he should apologise for. He has defended people's right to wear the burka whilst saying it is an inelegent garment. Neither of those two proposals are unreasonable’

Johnson is now facing a party investigation over the comments:
About time @BorisJohnson is facing a possible investigation into breaches of the Conservative Party code of conduct.https://t.co/P4jyLs0HDn
