'Sonic doesn't have bathrooms': It appears that Dan Rather is auditioning for #HuffPoInTheHeartland tour guide

Dan Rather and his grandson, Martin, started a road trip from Texas to Mount Rushmore last week and the embattled former CBS newsman is tweeting about the experience. Might he be the perfect candidate to lead the #HuffPoInTheHeartland tour?

First up, a review of the Dallas-Ft. Worth airport:

I'm a Houston guy, but have to say @DFWAirport is 1 of, if not, the best in the world. Spacious, clean, efficient. Folks are very helpful.

And their are restaurant reviews, too:

Ok City's. "Cattleman's" restaurant is one of best. Just super. Warm and friendly with superb food.

Imagine if the HuffPo crew saw this?

At "Smokey Pokey" BBQ in Stillwater, OK. At next table Cowboys w/guns on their hips. Not lawmen best I could tell. Just local cow men.

Kansas: It’s “flat” and Sonics don’t have bathrooms:

Just crossing from Oklahoma into Kansas. Big wind farm with windmills coming into view as a rainstorm pours down.

You learn all kinds of things driving through mid-America. Like: Sonic doesn't have bathrooms. Also you forget how flat Kansas is.

And here comes the corn:

Drive out of Kansas into Nebraska, under a loud streaked sky…amidst the scent of cornfields.

And tacos:

TBH, this sounds like an amazing trip and we can’t wait for the HuffPost gang to experience some of the same:

Leaving Rapid City, SD bound for NYC thru Denver. Our #roadtrip ends with fond memories..precious days for which I am prayerfully grateful.

— Dan Rather (@DanRather) July 18, 2017

Oh, and one more airport review for good measure:

Changing planes in Denver for NYC. Reminded that Denver's is one of the great airports in the world. Beautiful, well designed…it works.
