In a now-deleted tweet, “healthcare expert” Gregory Travis criticized some children he saw swimming in a pool at a Holiday Inn Express in Ohio, saying that “Five out of ten will become infected, “1 one them will have to go to the hospital” and “One of them may die”:

Here’s a screenshot:
Well, @greg_travis deleted this Tweet, perhaps because he learned that more kids died by drowning than from COVID. So those kids are more at risk being in the pool than from catching COVID. pic.twitter.com/z1EsvxUNBc

It’s weird how Twitter only bans *some* people for Covid misinformation:

The facts are that the kids are “at extremely low risk of severe illness”:
This bozo has “healthcare expert” in his bio.
These numbers are completely made up. These kids swimming are at extremely low risk of severe illness. https://t.co/9zrkNZJovH

And, we’ll point out, they’re more at risk of drowning, especially since there’s no lifeguard on duty:
In fact, more kids die of drowning in the US in an average year (~900) than have died of Covid-19 over the whole pandemic (~803). Enough with trying to scare people out of living their lives or letting kids live normal lives.

Catching Covid while swimming is just not a thing. Sorry!
Father of competitive swimmer here. Has swam throughout the pandemic with the rest of her team (60+ kids of all ages). Very few have had COVID, (that we know of) zero in hospital, zero dead. Stop spreading fear porn for clicks https://t.co/Pcjhq7tbSP
