It's possible that Democrat Sen. Patty Murray is still in a bit of a stunned daze after getting wrecked by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy about three months ago, because she's gone and outdone herself yet again.
This week the national debt hit $40 trillion. Why is that?
According to Murray, we're just not paying enough in taxes:
REMINDER: The single biggest driver of our national debt for the last 25 YEARS have been Republican-led tax cuts.

The federal government now takes in more than $5 trillion per year in revenue and the problem is that we're not sending them enough money at tax time?
Every year we have taken in more than the year before but we’ve spent even more than that. You’re either the most ignorant person in the room or the biggest liar.

"All of the above" is also a possibility.
REMINDER: The Federal Government breaks records every year with how much they take in ... and somehow, that's still not enough. We do not have a taxing problem, we have a spending problem. https://t.co/wFnODVNWGu

This is propaganda 101. Every tax cut in the last 25 years has resulted in higher tax revenues. We have a spending problem not a tax problem. https://t.co/7ccZkXRTPX

Democrats like Murray would like everybody to believe that it's impossible for the government to spend too much money. The real problem is that taxpayers aren't being milked hard enough to help keep up with their addiction.
