Not long ago we learned what it took for California's leftist politicians to show an interest in cleaning up parts of San Francisco, and that was a visit from the leader of communist China:
REPORT: The San Francisco homeless population has "miraculously" gone missing as President Biden & Chinese President Xi Jinping are set to meet in the liberal city.

Remarkable!

"The boss is coming, better straighten everything up!"
Fast forward several months, and San Francisco Mayor London Breed, having solved all other problems in her city, is in China praising their rail system and imagining the same thing for California:
Riding high speed rail from Beijjing to Shanghai is an over 800 mile trip in just 4.5 hours, making the Shanghai Maglev the fastest train in the world. That’s over twice the distance to LA. Just imagine what high speed rail could do for California. It will connect our state and… pic.twitter.com/K16swv6iDh

This is why it’s so important we do our part to complete infrastructure projects like the Portal to bring Caltrain into Downtown SF and set the table for high speed rail to run between Southern California and the heart of Downtown. That’s our future!

Many U.S. politicians, including President Biden, sure love their choo-choo trains! They claim the reason to want more trains in the U.S. is for "climate change" reasons, but here's the real reason: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$:
California’s high-speed rail project has teased residents with recent renderings of how its futuristic trains and massive stations would look. But, despite recent progress and the excitement those renderings have produced, the project remains about $7 billion short of the cost to complete the initial segment from Merced to Bakersfield.
The rail project also needs about $100 billion to make the original vision of linking San Francisco and Los Angeles via bullet trains a reality. And some of the project’s watchdogs say state leaders need to decide soon whether to commit to the entire project — or abandon it.
And if they abandon the project, it won't happen until as much of that money as possible has been shoveled around.
Back to the San Francisco mayor and her "priorities." I wonder if she showed CCP officials a poop map of her city.
San Francisco leftist mayor doing a propaganda tour in support of communist China. Why am I not surprised? https://t.co/rHitUbaKId

If it was a comparison Mayor Breed was after, she got one:
SF Mayor Breed has is comparing apples to oranges. The Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway, took about FOUR years to construct. Construction began in April 2008 and the line was officially opened on June 30, 2011. This rail line spans approximately 1,318 kilometers (819 miles)…

SF Mayor Breed has is comparing apples to oranges. The Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway, took about FOUR years to construct. Construction began in April 2008 and the line was officially opened on June 30, 2011. This rail line spans approximately 1,318 kilometers (819 miles) and significantly reduced travel time between the two cities, becoming one of the world's fastest trains in commercial service. It cost $32 billion total.
Compare that to California’s corrupt “high speed rail” that’s ALSO 800 miles: Groundbreaking was in January 2015. $10 billion spent so far (on nothing!) and $100 billion MORE expected to be spent. And it is now projected to open no sooner than 2035. 20 years total. At least.
China and California BOTH 800 miles. -China: 4 years & $32 billion -California: 15-20 years & $110 billion

Mayor Breed did a great job of explaining why A) "Progressives" love the CCP, and B) How much taxpayer money they've wasted on things that will probably never even be built to completion.
Another communist politician from California praising communist China? How much money did California already blow trying to build a train that goes nowhere?

Here's a question that maybe someday will be answered:
How many years and how many millions of taxpayers’ dollars have been stolen by California officials on garbage like this? https://t.co/0MbRTUEROc
— Clint (@pack_rulz1978) April 20, 2024
I'm not sure, but the answer is "a lot." There might never be high-speed rail in California but you can bet the ranch that select people are getting rich from it while taxpayers are the ones getting railroaded.
