It appears that the federal government and its ancillary operations have settled on a strategy to convince more people to either use public transit or buy electric cars: Mocking them.
Yesterday Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg made a comparison involving the people who are resisting the government's attempt to force them into electric vehicles:
🚨 Pete Buttigieg disparages Americans who don't want to be forced into electric vehicles:

Yeah, Pete? The rest of us feel like we're in the movie "Idiocracy."
The "shaming people into doing what you want by way of mockery" push has even extended to Amtrak, President Biden's beloved choo-choo train company and national passenger railroad service that in my experience has crappy wifi.
This kind of thing makes me want to take an unnecessary drive this afternoon is a gas-guzzler:
Best part of taking the train is saving the planet.

Second best part is judging people who drive. 🤭 pic.twitter.com/ejfhdzAiI7
The third best part is all the people in those cars are subsidizing Amtrak while they try to mock them. The absolute arrogance of "we're saving the planet and you're not" is off the charts.
When you're profitable and not a sponge on the taxpayer's coffers, then you can talk shit. https://t.co/H4PtiJSwUB

Until then, shut the hell up, Amtrak.
In case you needed another reason to think the Democrat obsession with trains is dumb. https://t.co/QHQSQ416IO

You look like a smug asshole here, @Amtrak. https://t.co/GdPYTZ5dTY

That's the Biden administration's "strategy" these days.
When Amtrak “judges” you for driving to places Amtrak doesn’t go. https://t.co/Xa6NhkRnKS

But they're "saving the planet"! Except not really.
The optics of gloating over public subsidies and then sneering at the people providing those subsidies…aren’t great https://t.co/FXgLTyDNo6

Here's a story from yesterday involving people who might have wished they'd driven themselves instead:
An Amtrak train traveling from Portland, Oregon, to Vancouver, B.C., came to a halt and lost power for hours north of Seattle due to a mechanical issue on March 29.
Passengers aboard the Amtrak Cascades Train 518 were left in the dark Friday night and into early Saturday morning.
"We're all stuck there for four hours and the power wasn't working. The bathrooms weren't working," said Polly Vel, a passenger.
They were "saving the planet" for four whole hours!
