Much of the weekend news cycle was consumed by the media and Democrats (as always, pardon the redundancy) trying to get as much mileage out of "Trump promises a 'bloodbath' if he loses the election" headlines that, not surprisingly, ignored the context. The media had their marching orders and they obediently ran with them.
The media was told how to frame the story, and that's exactly what they did:

However, Trump used the term in the context of a Biden win meaning worse things for the auto industry and economy as a whole.

Now there's a video of remarks Nancy Pelosi made in 2017 making the rounds. At the time the Associated Press did a "fact-check" (and you know how dishonest those can be) and determined Pelosi to be referring to Republican tactics when speaking about how the smear machine works. If Pelosi was talking about the Republicans working hand-in-hand with the media to smear Democrats, it was 100 percent pure projection. The "Trump/Bloodbath" stories are just the latest example of how this process works for the Dems:
