Hunter Biden showed up outside the U.S. Capitol today to announce he would testify at a public hearing. The problem is that he was subpoenaed to testify at a closed-door deposition and now could face a Contempt of Congress charge.

Hunter Biden knew the Republicans wouldn't agree to a public hearing before he was even deposed and that seems to have been his lawyer's way of getting out of the interview.
The president's son of course, among other comments, decided that playing the victim card would be the best approach:

He's the victim?
Apparently Hunter was victimized into not paying taxes for several years, according to the latest charges against him:

The new charges filed Thursday — three felonies and six misdemeanors — are in addition to federal firearms charges in Delaware alleging Hunter Biden broke laws against drug users having guns in 2018. They come after the implosion of a plea deal over the summer that would have spared him jail time, putting the case on track to a possible trial as his father campaigns for reelection.
Hunter Biden “spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle rather than paying his tax bills,” special counsel David Weiss said in a statement. The charges are centered on at least $1.4 million in taxes Hunter Biden owed during between 2016 and 2019, a period where he has acknowledged struggling with addiction. The back taxes have since been paid.
How could the Republicans be so heartless!?
Hunter impugned his own character through his hundreds of explicit laptop photos, tax evasion, failure to register as a foreign agent, and the list goes on…

The Bidens and the Democrats would also of course like everybody to believe that this is about shaming Hunter instead of what the real focus is on: Whether Joe Biden leveraged his position as VP and profited from the CCP and others off his son's overseas business dealings.
Earlier this week I spotted a media angle that's going to catch on with the MSM, and that's not only how Hunter is the victim, but so is Joe -- and he's crushed by it:
New: In private, Biden has expressed guilt over Hunter's ongoing legal and political fights, suggesting they wouldn’t be happening if he hadn’t run in 2020

A look inside the dynamic that will make 2024 emotionally fraught for Bidenhttps://t.co/a3RKp1foYX
It's an "emotional time" for the Bidens. Now imagine the media hyperventilating if all this involved the Trump family.

Leading up to next year's election we'll now be treated to a regular diet of how the Bidens are the victims and House Republicans are picking on a former drug addict's addiction and his sad father (they'll forget about the tax evasion and gun charges of course -- not to mention all the other corruption allegations).
