NY Times' take on Trump indictment is straight-up politi-porn for the 'walls are closing in' crowd

On Thursday a Manhattan grand jury reportedly voted to indict former President Donald Trump:

Donald J. Trump was indicted in Manhattan on Thursday for his role in paying hush money to a porn star, according to five people with knowledge of the matter, a historic development that will shake up the 2024 presidential race and forever mark him as the nation’s first former president to face criminal charges.

In the coming days, prosecutors working for the district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, will likely ask Mr. Trump to surrender and to face arraignment. The specific charges will be announced when he is arraigned.

Eric Trump, the former president’s second son, tweeted: “This is third world prosecutorial misconduct. It is the opportunistic targeting of a political opponent in a campaign year.”

Eric Trump is of course correct in that assessment, but meanwhile a follow-up story from the New York Times is intended to arouse the anti-Trump crowd and show that their “walls are closing in” rhetoric for several years has not been in vain:

YEESH! We almost feel the need to smoke a cigarette after that one.

They’re selling it so hard.

But the Times’ story had the desired effect on the “walls are closing in” anti-Trump people. However, they’ll likely ultimately be hugely disappointed… again.
