WaPo reports suspected UVA gunman who killed 3 'had troubled childhood but then flourished'

A shooting at the University of Virginia has left three people dead and two injured. The suspect is in custody:

A student suspected in a shooting at the University of Virginia that left three members of the football team dead and two others injured is in custody, officials announced Monday.

University of Virginia Police Chief Timothy Longo said authorities secured an arrest warrant charging Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. with three counts of second-degree murder and three counts of using a handgun in the alleged commission of a felony following the deaths of D’Sean Perry, Devin Chandler and Lavel Davis Jr.

The identities of the two injured victims hospitalized were not shared during a news conference. One is in good condition and the other is in critical condition, UVA President Jim Ryan said.

Washington Post Local which covers the DC area, framed the story this way:

https://twitter.com/postlocal/status/1592179146620391425

That take has caught some attention.

The headline and subheadline of the story have been changed and it now looks like this:

null

They tried to clean it up as best they could. The @PostLocal tweet remains but the @WashingtonPost tweet with the original spin has disappeared:

For some reason, the WaPo wanted to reel that one back in.

That’s from the same paper that brought the world their “austere religious scholar” take after the death of al-Baghdadi.

Such “journalism.”
