'Journalists for censorship'! WaPo editorial gets shredded over defense of Disinformation Governance Board

The creation of a Department of Homeland Security Disinformation Governance Board that will be led by the self-described “Mary Poppins of disinformation” had Sen. Rand Paul excoriating Alejandro Mayorkas at a Senate hearing this week.

Fortunately, however, the American mainstream media understands the inherent constitutional dangers that a government Ministry of Truth will bring with it. Wait, maybe not:

Yep, that’s what the Washington Post’s editorial board wrote:

Don’t throw your backs out carrying this administration, WaPo.

“Pay no attention to the government censor behind the curtain!”

The Biden administration is sure to award WaPo’s editorial board with at least ten social credit points.

The editorial began with an immediate defense of the Biden administration from Republican claims:

Despite what some in the Republican congressional leadership might tell you, the Department of Homeland Security is not starting up a “Ministry of Truth.” But the agency should be as transparent as possible about what its Disinformation Governance Board actually will be up to.

Not long after that it was noticed that, yeah, the name is a little Soviet-sounding:

The Disinformation Governance Board, (whose acronym is the Soviet-sounding DGB) is supposed to aid coordination among DHS offices as they counter viral lies and propaganda that pose a threat to domestic security. Done right, this is a useful function.

“Done right”? It’s this administration’s definition of “right” that’s entirely the problem.

Now imagine the editorial if the DHS under Trump announced the creation of a “Disinformation Governance Board.”

The Disinformation Governance Board should instead be called the Bureau of Democrat Narrative Enforcement.

The Disinfo Governance Board is that bad of an idea. Too bad the Post’s editorial board is too busy carrying this administration’s water to see it.
