Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has served up another economic hot take in support of increasing the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour that again sparked a few reactions like this:
She needs to return her diploma

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez argued in favor of raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour, claiming it’s being kept “artificially low”:
.@AOC: “Any person who thinks a $15 minimum wage is the crazy socialist agenda is living in a dystopian capitalist nightmare”
“When we keep the min wage artificially low, it's at a huge cost to our govt … they're essentially enormous subsidies to" Walmart pic.twitter.com/uhMAZblTKC

“Dystopian capitalist nightmare”? We’ll get to that in a second, but first the head shaking continued:

The billionaire capitalists AOC seems to think she’s trying to stick it to might not be the people who will be harmed in the least by a big increase in the minimum wage:
Does she really not see that companies like Walmart are the only ones that could absorb the wage hike? https://t.co/idjO8zcM1H

It’s always the impact on walmart or McDonalds. Not the the impact on the small buisness owner. They don’t matter to progressives

The minimum wage isn't artificially low. If the supply of workers didn't overwhelm the demand wages would ORGANICALLY go up to attract the best talent. Major corporations want min wages raised to kill off the remainder of small businesses.
She doesn't understand how this works. https://t.co/Z5MzUfcQN1

Her definition of the word “artificially” is exactly the opposite of “artificially”.
Also, the WalMarts of the world will be the only businesses that will be able to absorb those wages. https://t.co/gGt72VC5EP

Progressives like AOC often have ideas that will hit the people they claim to be trying to protect extra hard.

“Artificially low”…the minimum wage is literally an artificial number. https://t.co/7qcBCcvuQQ
