The New York Times recently retracted the core of their hit podcast series “Caliphate,” and the Pulitzer Prize people accepted the Times’ subsequent request to rescind the 2019 “International Reporting” accolade.
NPR is reporting that the host of the Times’ popular podcast “The Daily,” journalist Michael Barbaro, worked some reporters to get them to go easy on those responsible for the “Caliphate” scandal, apparently to help save anybody from hurt feelings:
Michael Barbaro privately pressed at least 4 journalists to temper how they framed the "Caliphate" scandal — including NPR host Lulu Garcia-Navarro, whom he admonished to demonstrate restraint and warned was hurting the feelings of people at the newspaper.https://t.co/010OQD14hd

"Privately, Barbaro repeatedly pressed at least four journalists Friday to temper their critiques of The Times and how they framed what happened. I know, because I was one of them." https://t.co/hvHbTdpGjk

That’s got to be a contender for the most “journalism” thing of the year!
Oh, those poor Timesmen and Timeswomen.

Look at that. Another story in the media that was too good to check, but turned out to be completely false.

What will it take for media as a whole to acknowledge that @nyt has less credibility than the National Enquirer? https://t.co/kKleHMc6AP

They’d rather just have other reporters keep quiet about it, apparently.
Amazing, these people really think “news” and “journalism” just means stories they write about things and people they don’t like.
I wonder what would happen if Trump asked journos to stop reporting on the Russia Hoax because it was “hurting the feelings of people in his admin”. https://t.co/QgjPplbIHT

Reminder, “that if you’re a journalist at the end of 2020, you are strong.”
Also, “only report on people on your side if it’s a positive story. Seriously, you don’t want to hurt people’s feelings or their careers if they’re ideologically aligned with you.” pic.twitter.com/6gIEeKYIXf

Even while admitting that the public cannot trust them, the media is busy undermining their last shred of credibility https://t.co/pgKpm998eF

Don’t report on our poorly fact checked/verified stories … it will hurt our feelings!
How pathetic. https://t.co/XIaiS1sUO2
